Together with my wife Debora, our 9-year-old daughter Irene and the faithful little dog Bianca we had a really good time at Hotel Cimone, in the company of... read more Francesco, Roberta, Mattia and all the related staff.
The Hotel is located right at the beginning of the village of Riolunato coming from Pievepelago, a few steps from the historic center, some shops, bars, restaurants and the beautiful public park, located right next to the structure.
The main attraction of the area is certainly the proximity to the Cimone ski resort in Le Polle, reachable in 15 minutes by car and also open in the summer thanks to the presence of a beautiful lake, a refuge, a chalet, a campsite as well as a shop for the sale and rental of mountain equipment.
Equally close is the Abetone area (in Faidello) and precisely this double possibility linked to the proximity between Cimone and Abetone, allows you to take advantage of the Hotel Cimone as an ideal starting point for a holiday linked to skiing on the 2 largest ski areas. of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, thus providing up to 100 km of skiable slopes.
Among the attractions, from the Hotel, you can easily reach Lake Santo Modenese and the beautiful Val di Luce on the Tuscan side, the Adventure Park Cimone and Lake Ninfa on the Emilia side.
There is no shortage of characteristic villages, starting from Riolunato itself, apparently not very interesting when traveled by passing car, then it turns out to be a nice surprise when you have the opportunity to walk through its historic center and town.
Among the most characteristic and easily visited villages starting from Hotel Cimone we find, in particular: Pavullo, Pievepelago, Fiumalbo, Montecreto, Sestola and Fanano.
Our room was very comfortable, simple but up to expectations also due to the presence of a comfortable terrace overlooking the surrounding valley.
The restaurant offers both typical dishes of the Emilian mountains and conventional courses, always of a good quality level.
More attention, however, should be given to some details that are important to me, for example, at the table, Ponti vinegar cannot be presented, especially in an area like this, so famous for its quality balsamic vinegar, the same goes for oil, in my opinion. local producers with a good compromise between quality and price should be sought, avoiding national brands or producers outside the region.
As for the service, the waitresses at the tables were all professional even if a couple of them a bit angular, in some cases almost annoyed by the presence of customers but then slowly getting to know us things went better and in the end there is sorry to go away for them too.
The waitress of Romanian origin (if I'm not mistaken) was always very smiling and nice from the first meeting, so let's take the opportunity to greet her with a big hug.
Francesco's aperitifs at the hotel bar are excellent in a very comfortable room where I imagine what the environment must be like in winter, perhaps with the fireplace lit and the snow outside the door
By staying overnight in the hotel, we were given the opportunity to attend the swimming pool of the Agriturismo La Luna, the usual property, located a few hundred meters from Hotel Cimone.
The swimming pool, albeit small, allowed us to cool off and have fun with our daughter, enjoying a truly very beautiful place, immersed in the nature of our Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and with a beautiful view of Mount Cimone.
The Games Room of the Hotel is an important added value especially for families with children but in our opinion it must be modernized, removing the games that no longer work also because I believe they date back to the 80s ... at present the room seems a bit left to itself.
The website of the Hotel Cimone is well done, the connection with the website of the Agriturismo La Luna is excellent.
Also to increase customer loyalty, I would recommend introducing a Facebook page where every now and then insert some photos, some news of the hotel or the surrounding area, we will certainly be their followers.
With the hope of coming back to visit you soon, a warm greeting to all of you.
